New Castle County Wi-Fi Hotspot Reveal
March 27, 2020
The COVID-19 pandemic has temporarily changed our way of doing life; this season has truly shown us how connected we all are. Assurance Media's team was approached by New Castle Chamber to partner together with the Chamber, Verizon, and Cisco-Meraki to launch eight free, public Wi-Fi hotspots in New Castle County.
Many students are learning remotely and require internet access to connect with learning materials and their teachers. These hot spots will provide a safe place for students along with the general public to access the internet in-light of the closing of libraries and other free, public resources. These hot spots require individuals to access the Wi-Fi from the safety of their vehicles in order to abide by social distancing standards.
This effort began on March 21st and the spots were open and operational by March 30th. The eight current locations are:
- NCC Government Center (87 Reads Way, New Castle 19720)
- NCC Gilliam Building (77 Reads Way, New Castle 19720)
- Garfield Park PAL (26 Karlyn Dr, New Castle DE 19720)
- Banning Park Maintenance Base (102 Middleboro Rd, Wilmington, 19804)
- Kimberton Police Academy (201 Kimberton Drive, Newark 19713)
- EMS Base 5 Parking Lot (North Broad Street, Middletown)
- Kirkwood Library (6000 Kirkwood Hwy, Wilmington, DE)
- Bear Library rear parking lot (101 Governors Place, Bear)
Our team is so thankful to be apart of the solution in this small way using our expertise. We are in this together and we all can play a part. To see additional hotspots view http://www.wifi.nccde.org/
