We encourage each of our employees to reach out to their communities and find a charity or cause they are passionate about and use their talents and resources to make a difference. After all, what is a community without teamwork and cooperation? Below are several charities and causes in the surrounding region that we hold near and dear to our hearts:
Established in 1986, Habitat for Humanity of New Castle County has completed over 200 homes and ranks among the top three HFH Northeast affiliates (of 210 affiliates from Delaware to Maine) in terms of housing production. Our mission compels us to respond to an urgent and growing for need for affordable housing in our community. To accomplish this mission, we have set a goal of building 21 homes a year over the next five years. This increased rate of house building has elevated our affiliate to “Community Builder” status, the largest growth stage for a Habitat affiliate, placing us among the top 5% of Habitat affiliates nationally. Delaware KIDS Fund is dedicated to providing goods and services to children at risk and in distressed situations by providing financial support for essential needs, counseling, mentoring, scholarships, fellowships, and educational grants. Recently, by sponsoring a hole at the CIRC Golf Tournament, Assurance Media raised funds to cover over 800 meals for children benefitted by the Delaware KIDS Fund.
Girls, Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold through life-changing programs and experiences that help girls navigate gender, economic, and social barriers. With local roots dating to 1864 and national status in the U.S. since 1945, Girls Inc. responds to the changing needs of girls and their communities through research-based programs and advocacy that empower girls to reach their full potential and to understand, value, and assert their rights. President Jennifer McKenzie has been actively involved in and a former board President of Girls, Inc. since 2003.
Junior Achievement of Delaware’s mission is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. The organization serves students in the entire state of Delaware as well as students in Cecil County, Maryland and students in Salem County, New Jersey. Principal, Mark Stellini, former chair, currently serves on the board of directors.
New Castle County Vo-Tech School District is a public school system that offers students an innovative curriculum, which combines academic instruction, career training, and structured work experiences designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and workplace skills. Principal, Mark Stellini is an active member on the advisory school board.
Delaware Technical and Community College is a statewide multi-campus community college committed to providing open admission, post-secondary education at the associate degree level. The College offers comprehensive educational opportunities that support economic development and are relevant and responsive to the needs of the community including career, general, developmental, and transfer education; workforce training; professional development; and lifelong learning. Assurance Media supports and participates in the annual fund raisers for each Del-Tech campus, and Principal, Mark Stellini, serves as the chairman of the board.
Delaware Youth for Christ focuses its programs on reaching at-risk youth in the communities of Wilmington, Belvedere, and Middletown in Delaware. DYFC works with underprivileged children and teenagers, many of whom live below the poverty line. Recently, Assurance Media helped support DYFC at their Bowlerama event with our very own bowling team.
